On January 17th, the magic begins for the improvisational electronic project Eotoeotologo.jpg, featuring Jason Hann and Michael Travis of the String Cheese Incident. The pair is launching this tour with four shows in Hawaii, hopping across the islands before hitting the west coast, spending a great deal of time in Cali, then off to the Midwest and into the east by spring.

Eoto creates a unique, tribal sound by blending hand drums with conventional rock instruments and synth, and also using the latest computer technology to create samples from music played live, then looped and mixed simultaneously throughout the entire set. Every sound is created live and produced on the fly. Yesterday I had the pleasure to speak with Jason about his history with S.C.I. and the birth of Eoto, as well as some details about the technical side of their innovative live creations:

Great Podcast but Jason is pretty hard to understand sometimes.

EOTO is my life….. stop asking questions about cheese… EOTO is it…. its the new thing…. i saw 6 shows this year on their tour…. i traveled as far as 10 hours to Athens to see them……. EOTO is about to blow up like a nuclear bomb… and ill be right in the middle front taking it ALL in….. Hann and Travis are among the best musicians in the world. there i said it
