The Women’s Tonic

The Women’s Tonic is a web comic written by Shane Atkinson and Daniel Needham and illustrated by Brant Moon, about the lives of five parentless children living in a Victorian mansion during the prohibition era. Curiously non-linear, this black and white comic consists of seemingly isolated vignettes of some event with a few lines of text, deceivingly simple, with meaning churning just beyond the panel borders. As you work your way through the story the characters personalities flesh out, the trajectories of their lives come into view, surprisingly effectively for such a non-traditional comic narrative.
