Madman of Drums:
Sasha Popovich
Recently Carney interviewed Camella Grace about the band
Butcher (you can check that interview out here:
Butcher, Spiraleyes and More
). He had a chance to talk more about Butcher
with another member, drummer Sasha Popovich:

Ray Carney:
What type of inspiration, what kind of stuff are you listening to; what artwork and
such are you taking from for this?
Sasha Popovich:
I think we’re taking from everybody’s favorite sort of music and putting it all together.
For me it would be just my influences, and that kind of is the best part of playing with
Butcher is that everybody kind of gets a say and gets to play what they want to play.
I might be influenced today by the Melvins today or whatever, and Philip (Trujeque) could
be influenced by Poison or something. (Laughs)
RC:
Right on, man. That sounds like a pretty killer combination of influences, almost
a strange mesh, or a gel of them, you know?
SP:
Yeah man, definitely.
In addition to the work with Butcher, Sasha Popovich
performs in the band Mother Tongue, among others. The audio interview covers
this more extensively, but you can see the Mother Tongue
web site at
MotherTongue.Net and check out
Mother Tongue’s myspace. – Ed.
RC:
Okay, and how do you order a Mother Tongue CD?
SP:
Well, I think we’re on
I-Tunes now.
